That's the day when we pick the first line from a book somewhere in our shop and post it on social media.

Don't forget the hashtag #FirstLineFriday and to include @MrBooks_ton

All YOU have to do is tell us which book it's from.

If you like, you can come into the shop and tell us (or search for it).

Then all those people with the right answers go into a draw for books or money-like rewards - to be spent on books at Mr Books. So it's basically a competition for people who like books. 

Couldn't be simpler.

There are some terms and conditions

You're only allowed one entry and we have to receive your entry before the fourth Friday of the month of that competition (so that's by midnight, UK time, of the Thursday. Well, we have to be precise.)

There is no charge for entry and you can enter via our social media pages or by messaging us here or by email. You can call in at Mr Books too. Say hello. So, it's a game of skill and those with the right answer have a chance to win a prize - probably a book we choose or a voucher to spend in store. We may occasionally throw in something else. Everyone happy? Good.

We often make offers or provide vouchers to give you a discount - for example when we advertise in the Town Crier or for some schools. We will only apply one discount at any time...so choose wisely...

Most discounts are time limited so read them carefully or you'll be disappointed.

All our terms are based on the law in England - no matter where you are - just to be clear.

Data protection

If you provide us with information like your name, address, email or phone number, we'll only use it for contacting you in connection with your order/purchase or about Mr Books (if you've signed up for email contact/newsletter). We will never pass your information to other people.

If you ever feel we haven't served you well, tell us and we will do our best to put it right. We can't say fairer than that. And of course, you have all the usual consumer rights under English law.
